Valley attractions • Gnomesville, just outside Dardanup. You can leave your own gnome behind as a sign of your passage! • The giant jarrah King Tree. • The Bibbulmun Track (a world class 1000km walking and trekking trail), which begins in Perth passes through the Collie town site, winds around the very picturesque Harris Dam, crosses the Ferguson Valley, meanders through the countryside from Dwellingup to Pemberton, from Walpole to Albany. A typical shelter on the Bibbulmun Track • The Munda Biddi Trail ('path through the forest' in the Nyoongar Aboriginal language) is a world-class nature-based off-road cycling experience for the beginner as well as for the rider asking for a challenge. There are few places left in the world where a 900-kilometre track could be built through an undeveloped natural corridor using bush tracks, firebreaks and old abandoned railway tracks. Stage 1 of the track has been built. It offers basic shelter, tent sites and toilets for the cyclists from the hills east of Perth and finishes in Collie. Soon it will reach the Ferguson Valley and pass in front of Carlaminda winery along Richards Road. Nearby attractions; • Bunbury where you can wine and dine in award-winning restaurants, historic pubs, discover the colourful cappuccino strip of sidewalk cafes, have a great shopping experience, visit galleries or museums and enjoy an interesting nightlife. • The beaches are never far away and you can always enjoy activities like surfing, swimming, fishing, crabbing and sailing. •You can have personal encounters with the dolphins at the Koombana Bay Dolphin Discovery Centre. • You can go crabbing or fishing in the Leschenault Inlet, enjoy the mangrove boardwalk and view many different species of birds. • Collie, a historical mining town and the Collie River Valley have many attractions on offer. Minninup Pool, Long Pool and Honeymoon Pool are serene parts of the river where people can enjoy canoeing, swimming, picnicking or camping. Other sites like the Rapids, Big Rock and Little Rock are all beautiful places where to rest in the shade of the peppermint trees, have fun playing with your children, or just dream and watch the stars. • The Wellington Dam, which is the South West’s largest water reservoir, is situated in the middle of superb forests. If you come at the right time, you might be able to see the stunning water display when the dam overflows. The Wellington National Park offers several gorgeous bushwalk possibilities. • Capel with the only naturally growing tuart forest in the world is certainly worth a visit.
